Żabka i Pajęczyca
site-specific, 2021-2022
In my work, I talk about friendship as part of a nostalgia for innocence. Through the prism of adulthood, I refer to childhood memories and the way of experiencing the world. I draw attention to the lack of prejudice against reality and to the readiness to embrace it.
Using the tale of the Spider and the Frog, I tell a story about the relationship between two animals that are predators often competing with each other in a shared habitat. My narrative is about the rare cases in which they establish cooperation and live in symbiosis. In such a relationship their functioning looks quite different, atavistic hostility is replaced by close coexistence.
In their visuality, the presented objects appear like artefacts from the museum of the archaeology of friendship, both the lost one, existing in the sphere of fantasy or memories, and the potential one, which can happen between unexpected subjects.
