FEET
installation, 2019
The installation consists of two hands. One is large and soft, made of velvet, the other smaller, heavy and hard. I wanted to refer to the cultural achievements of the art of decorating nails and juxtapose it with the inscription FEET, which has a connection with the stage of our evolution. Once upon a time what is now our hands were feet.
I am interested in the fact that modern manicure trends are very much related to the world of animals, they are reminiscent of sharp claws of predators.
At first glance, having such long nails by human beings seems to be an unnecessary extravagance that has no use. However, if we take a closer look, artificial finger-nails can also be a symbolic weapon in the fight against class divisions or gender roles. They can be a tool for emancipation.
